One of the biggest mistakes that I see people do when they try something that someone successful (their guru, mentor, master) told them to do is that they don’t do exactly what the mentor told them to do.
By exactly I mean that if you’re following a recipe for a cake and the recipe says “300 grams of baby carrots”, then put “300 GRAMS OF BABY CARROTS!”. Not “large carrots” not “pff I think this is 300 grams” etc. The goal is that if you REALLY want to be successful and become like your mentor, then do EVERYTHING EXACTLY as he or she says until you become as good or better! Then after that, do whatever you want, develop your own techniques, etc.
But this is hard, I know! We always want to slightly change something because we like it better, make it more convenient for us, practical, etc. But until you make it and become as good as the master: don’t change a thing, follow all instructions step by step. Trust me, you’ll be rewarded!
