UBER GROWTH BLOG CHALLENGE

Uber Blog Growth Challenge

This is one EPIC challenge. The goal is to produce great, useful content on a weekly basis, push myself way outside my comfort zone, develop success habits and a great work ethic while growing my blog from 0 (started officially in November 2013) to 100 000 visitors total by the end of 2014. A humongous task and that’s why I love it.

Why am I doing this challenge? Because I really love blogging, really. And I love sharing my experiences, lessons learned and projects with other people. Although I don’t care if this blog makes money or not, it would be nice if it could bring some extra revenues and most importantly allow me to meet like-minded, amazing people, gurus and get access to special entrepreneur events. Also for me, blogging is also one of the best tools for personal growth and pushing myself outside my comfort zone. This challenge will do all that.

Uber Blog Growth Challenge:

  • develop a world class blog about 4hww lifestyle & meta learning (it’s my passion and I could also eventually monetize it. Also, to be future proof, develop myself as a brand and build a solid no-look-behind foundation and platform that will leverage a lot more)
  • 25 000 visitors per month by December 31th
  • have 100 000 visitors or more in the year
  • have 5000 subscribers
  • Write 50+ blog posts (all posts should have a VLOG ot bring people from multi-channels) (~4.16 per month)
  • 15+ guest posts (featured or guest posting) (~1.25 per month)
    • 1 post on Wired
    • etc
  • do 50+ personal VLOGS (~4.16 per month)
  • 400+ motivational posters + share on pinterest, twitter (new @4hww_motivation), facebook, etc. (~1.1 per day)
  • 800+ comments: 14+ comments per week on DIFFERENT blog post of 4hww related content. Be helpful to other people by answering things you know well or redirecting them to the proper resource.  (~2.2 per day)
  • have done 25 consecutive weekly newsletters or more on dec 31rst
  • Added at least 100+ videos to my youtube channels (whether i make them or clipped for my “77 seconds of Wisdom” theme)  (2 per week)
  • Summarize 12+ books. (create « reviews » on my blog with searchable quotes and notes by tags, theme)
  • Do 12 or more public Challenges + reports that get me outside my comfort zone. Ex: interview a guru, get published on Wired, etc. The goal is to use that as a way to multiply my growth rate and do things that I wouldn’t otherwise have a reason to do.
  • do 5 seminars where i explain key web & marketing concepts to people (meet business people, etc. START SMALL: use your own existing clients and entourage)
  • write my first 2 book: First essay: 20 pages, second essay: 50+ pages, on any subjects
  • do 10+ interviews (to develop social skills, grow network, etc)  (~1 per month)
  • Go to 20+ networking events, big or small to meet local or international entrepreneurs  (~2 per month)
  • Give 25+ influencers to accept your freebies (giving them value, and getting to know them, building relationship)  (~2 per month)

Don’t get me wrong: this will be an insanely hard challenge that I’ll have to work on every day and keep my motivation up, etc. It’s non-stop work on myself and I could very well fail half way. But it’s something I really want and if I do it properly, it could bring me to an amazing level in the next 12 months and completely change where I’d otherwise be. So I’m really looking forward to it. The idea is to take it one item at a time, one step after the other and build upon early successes.

VISITORS & SUBSCRIBERS BREAKDOWN

In order to get a total of 100 000 visitors in the year (with 25 000 visitors on the last month) and 5000 subscribers, here’s an approximate breakdown of the growth that I will need to have:

MONTH NEW SUBSCRIBERS
FOR THAT MONTH
VISITORS
FOR THAT MONTH
January 25 400
February 25 600
March 50 1 000
April 75 1 800
May 100 3 000
June 140 4 500
July 180 6 200
August 220 9 000
September 385 12 000
October 800 16 000
November 1300 20 500
December 1700 25 000
TOTAL 5000 100 000

As you can see, having 100 000 visitors in a year seems daunting, BUT if you break it down in an “almost exponential” growth curve, it becomes much more manageable and possible. It also gives me concrete numbers to aim for for each month. Great stuff.

There it is! So starting TODAY, I’ll work on this challenge and do a monthly report with progress, sticking points, lessons learned. I’m doing this challenge so that I can grow my audience with this blog, but also to use this blog as a TOOL to help me CHALLENGE myself, LEARN MORE, FASTER, push outside my comfort zone and hopefully making a few dollars would be a great bonus. Reporting, writing, thinking and putting everything down in text is a fantastic way to speed up growth and my learning curve.

VISUAL GOALS

And finally, these images are a visual representation that I look at often for motivation and to remind me of my goals. They are either uber-bloggers, events I’d like to participate, or other situations made possible with a large, well-known blog:

Note: these images means something to me, each for a reason. Mainly used for inspiration. Tim Ferriss is in those often, simply because he’s the one Guru I’d like to emulate the most.
